About Me
From the earliest moments of my life, I've found solace and joy in the act of creation - whether it's through drawing, painting, or the tactile manipulation of various materials, including chocolate. As a chocolatier in a previous life, techniques such as layering, application of cocoa butter colour, splattering, using edible pigment powders, scraping, experimenting with design, textures and flavours all feed into my art practice.
To me, art is a visceral experience, one that embraces the messiness of experimentation and the freedom of hands-on expression.
In my art, I strive to celebrate the beauty of Cornwall in all its forms, from the majestic cliffs to the humble hedgerows. Each painting is a tribute to the natural wonders that surround us, a reminder to cherish and protect these precious landscapes for generations to come.

Cornwall's beauty extends far beyond its picturesque beaches. From the lush woodlands, where I'm drawn to the dappled light that filters through the canopy, to the graceful contours of the meandering estuaries, the rich textures of the dunes, the fields and hedges are a patchwork of colours and textures. Every corner of the county is filled with inspiration.
My artistic process is a dynamic fusion of techniques and mediums, a reflection of my impulsive nature. I employ a diverse array of tools - from brushes and palette knives to my own hands and unconventional implements—embracing the unpredictability and texture that each brings to the canvas. Charcoal, chalks, conte, oil bars, and pens mingled with both acrylics and oils, creating a rich tapestry of colours and textures.
Many evenings and weekends are spent en plein air. These spontaneous sketches and paintings along with my partner's beautiful photography serve as the foundation for my creative process, guiding me towards the final compositions that take shape at my home. Drawing from the rich palette of nature, I love to translate the colours I see into vibrant, expressive brushstrokes.
Working with acrylics resonates with my instinctive approach, allowing me to work swiftly and boldly on a larger scale. I thrive in the midst of multiple paintings and projects, revelling in the creative chaos of my art space. It's within this environment of constant motion and experimentation that I find my truest expression.

For me, art is a journey of evolution—a continuous process of growth and discovery. Each piece I create serves as a lesson, a chance to learn and evolve as both an artist and an individual. I find inspiration in the act of experimentation, letting intuition guide my hand and following the brush wherever it may lead.
